February comes upon us not long after the December holidays are over; and once again we are filling our shopping carts with all kinds of sweets! Now, we know that sweets can be an integral part of the holiday celebration, but we also know that keeping your teeth healthy should always be a priority! So while you’re giving and receiving all those heart-shaped candies this year, here’s a couple tips to remember in order to keep your smile beautiful!
1. Be careful with sticky and hard candy: Sticky and hard candies can cause real damage to your teeth. Not only do these candies get stuck in tough-to-reach crevices in your teeth, but they can also cause teeth to break or chip. If you have little ones, be especially cautious with what sticky and hard candies you give them; baby teeth are very fragile.
2. Choose dark chocolate: All chocolate is loaded with sugar, but the truth is that dark chocolate actually has quite a lot of nutritional value as well. If you’re going to eat sweets this month, you can at least pick the best of the bunch!
3. Buy sugar-free candy and gum when possible: Sometimes sugar free candy and gum can be just as satisfying as regular sweets! If you’re looking for a way to save your teeth during the holiday, give these sugar-free treats a try and save your teeth the pain from real sugar! Sometimes your taste buds won’t even notice the difference!
Let this holiday season be a painless one by enjoying some of these safer treat options! If you do find yourself with a cavity, or you simply need a cleaning, just visit The Moose Dentist in Pleasant View or Farmington, Utah!
