Dr. Cam grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ben Lomond High School and Weber State University. While at Weber State, he had the opportunity to play tight end for the Wildcats football team. In 1998 he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL and earned the title of “Mr. Irrelevant,” the last person selected in the NFL draft each year. He spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, the Barcelona Dragons (of the NFL Europe) and the Jacksonville Jaguars. After a neck injury in Jacksonville he made the decision to stop playing football and pursue dental school. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry where he served as student body president and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Originally pursuing a career in oral surgery Dr. Cam loved the challenge and reward of working with the kids in VCUs pediatric clinic. Because of this Dr. Cam changed his focus and began to pursue a specialty in pediatrics. Following dental school Dr. Cam attended Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah for a 2 year residency in pediatric dentistry. During this residency he received additional training in behavior management, sedation and treatment planning to work with children. Since he graduated from his residency Dr. Cam continues to teach the pediatric dental residents at Primary Children’s Hospital. He oversees the sedation training received by the residents.
Dr. Cam is married and has 2 daughters and 2 sons. He enjoys traveling, mountain biking, snow skiing, and staying active. He also enjoys working with children and providing them with a positive and enjoyable dental experience. Each child he treats he asks himself, “What would I do if this were my child?” By doing this he is able to treat each child with the absolute best care possible.
